Maxicare publishes Annual ESG Report for sustainable healthcare

07/22/2026

Maxicare Healthcare Corporation officially released its 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, titled “For Better Healthcare,” which marks a significant milestone in its commitment to ethical governance and long-term operations.

Maxicare is being proactive by releasing this extensive report in advance of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) 2029 deadline. The publication arrives at a time when ESG reporting has become essential for companies dedicated to transparency. According to IFS, such reporting involves disclosing critical data regarding a company’s performance in managing environmental risks, social relationships, and internal governance. This offers stakeholders a clear picture of how an organization handles carbon emissions, waste, and employee diversity.

“This ESG Report reflects our growing commitment to embedding sustainability across our organization,” stated Christian Argos, President and CEO of the Maxicare Group. “While this is an early chapter in our formal sustainability journey, I am proud of the progress our teams have made and the culture of accountability that drives it”.

Proactive Compliance and Environmental Action

The 2025 report highlights Maxicare’s successful efforts to reduce its environmental footprint. The company achieved an 11.3% reduction in energy consumption at its Makati Head Office, saving over 131,100 kWh. These efficiency gains, alongside a 17.2% reduction in water usage, were driven by infrastructure streamlining and the adoption of hybrid work arrangements. Over a five-year period, Maxicare has avoided a total of 1,362.8 metric tons of CO2 emissions.

Social Responsibility and a “Great Place to Work”

Beyond environmental metrics, the report underscores Maxicare’s status as a premier employer. For the fourth consecutive year, the company has been certified as a Great Place to Work®, with 83% of employees affirming the organization’s positive culture, which is significantly higher than the global benchmark of 53%.

The company’s social pillar is further bolstered by community-centric initiatives such as:

  • Planting Our Legacy: A tree-planting program in Antipolo with more than 60 volunteers who planted 200 Narra seedlings.
  • Brigada Eskwela: Revitalizing local schools through garden restoration and health-focused outreach, including Dengue Awareness talks for students.

Governance and Future Readiness

The report details a robust governance structure where ESG-related oversight is integrated into the Board Risk Oversight Committee (BROC). Maxicare’s commitment to integrity is further reflected in its strict adherence to Anti-Money Laundering (AMLA) practices and the continuous advancement of data privacy through its dedicated Data Privacy Office.

As Maxicare prepares for the formal SEC mandate in 2029, this early publication serves both as a roadmap for the future and a testament to its mission of helping Filipinos achieve peace of mind through quality, responsible healthcare. The full 2025 Environmental, Social, & Governance report is available on the Maxicare website.
